Edie’s Notes—A Request for Your Help

Text Box: This month’s column is a request for your help. We really need more members to help with the on-going activities of our branch. It seems that the same people always do most of the work, while others seldom if ever help out.
1) We still need someone to finish out the year as the Publicity officer. Usually this means submitting a short notice to the Gazette-Times for the FYI section before each branch meeting.
2) Coming up in April the Scholarship Committee will be evaluating applications and could use some help. This is a short term project, and usually is completed in one long afternoon. If you are interested, please contact Ann Mills, AnnTMills@earthlink.net.
3) April 14th is the Bridge Marathon Final Night Party at the Corvallis Country Club. We always need members to help set up, serve, clean up, provide refreshments, donate gift baskets or gifts and solicit coffee coupons from area businesses for the winners. As you can see, you don’t need to know how to play bridge to help. If you are interested, please Text Box: contact Sue Borden, sueborden@cmug.com.
4) The nominating committee is working to create a slate of officers for the 2008-9 year. Please seriously consider serving if you are asked. If everyone contributed some time and effort, all the work wouldn’t fall upon the shoulders of a few.
Remember, besides the social aspect of AAUW, most of the work we are asking you to do is related to fundraising for local scholarships and for the Educational Foundation and the Legal Advocacy Fund. These are all good causes which deserve our support.
There are other ways that everyone can help out. Please invite your friends who are not AAUW members to some of the branch meetings. They will have an enjoyable time, meet friendly members, and learn about AAUW. You can tell them that membership dues are half price, or $37.50, between now and March 15th. The application deadline for next year’s local scholarships to OSU and LBCC is April 7. Please let your friends and neighbors know Text Box: about these scholarships for older-than-average female students. The information and application material may be found on the Corvallis website, www.corvallis-aauw.org. Letters of recommendation are required, so applicants should start early.
The Board and I thank you for all that you do, and thank you in advance for your future efforts.

Please invite your friends who are not AAUW members to some of the branch meetings.  They will have an enjoyable time, meet friendly members, and learn about AAUW.
